Today's tip is about how to avoid Spyware attacks: Spyware is a
software program that is installed without your knowledge when
you unknowingly enter an offending website. Spyware hijacks your
browser. One thing Spyware does, when you open your browser
window, is to display a homepage other than the one you have
set. This is referred to as a "browser hijacker". Adware is,
also, spyware but it sporadically pops up ads in your browser
window. The offending web site secretly plants executable
programs in your hard drive on your computer and then makes
changes in the Windows registry.
Many of the
larger spyware prevention programs now include search and
destroy routines for hijacks.

Question: |
Sometimes no matter what I do with my mouse, it doesn't get
the computer to respond? Why does that happen and what
should I do?
|
|
Answer: |
When
your computer isn't responding, computer people sometimes
say that your computer is hung up or frozen.
One reason might be that it is running out of usable memory
(resources).
The
first thing you can do is to shut down your computer and
reboot it. If your problem stops, you may want to add
memory.
If
you decide to add more memory, contact
Dan for information. |

Question: |
I am unable to receive and send email. Why? |
|
Answer: |
If you
are using the correct user name and password and are still
not able to use your email, I'll give you three of the many
possibilities why your email is not working correctly.
1. You might have a missing internet connection. So, call
your service provider to verify that your computer is
connecting to the internet.
2. Your email program might not be configured correctly. A POP
server is used to retrieve mail and an SMTP server is used
to send mail. So, verify the correct server and port are
defined. Check your email program to be sure it is
configured properly.
3. Your email program might be corrupted. We suggest you
reinstall your email program, which may not be a simple
task.
